Oprah Winfrey was born in 1954 on a farm near Kosciusko, Mississippi. She’s been one of the most successful and influential people of our time.
She grew up with a family that instilled a sense of self-worth and belonging within her from an early age. In addition, they taught her to value education and hard work. As a result, Oprah became interested in journalism while attending Tennessee State University, where she majored in communication studies and English literature. After being crowned Miss America for 1974, she became co-anchor on WJZ-TV Baltimore’s evening news program “Evening Magazine” at 19 years old!
In this blog post, we look at some famous quotes from Oprah Winfrey and implement them in different aspects of our lives.
1. “Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.”
To succeed, we have to get rid of our fear of failure and get comfortable with it. After that, it’s nothing more than a response from the body that wants you to do your best and improve yourself each time.
2. “When you know better, you do better.”
To get better at anything we do, we have to stop denying the truth and face up to it. If we don’t, we cannot improve ourselves and make a change in our lives. So this is a key message from Oprah for us not to deny what is true.
3. “Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.”
Struggle helps us grow stronger and allows us to build endurance through overcoming challenges in life that are presented to us. When we persevere through these difficulties with determination, we can develop into a stronger person for this experience.
4. “What you’re supposed to do when you don’t like a thing is change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it. Don’t complain.”
This is one of Oprah’s quotes on how we must make changes in our lives and move forward with positivity and grace despite any obstacles. It’s amazing how much impact our thoughts have on us and the world around us.
5. “I don’t think of myself as a poor deprived ghetto girl who made good. I think of myself as somebody who from an early age knew I was responsible for myself, and I had to make good.”
This is one of Oprah’s earlier quotes about her childhood. We can see how much success has not changed who she is as a person and that it’s just made her even more, caring for others.
6. “Know that you are enough, exactly as you are.”
This is another quote from Oprah about self-love and acceptance of yourself. It doesn’t matter what your past is or how you got to where you are in life. Just know that it’s fine, and be proud of who you are.
7. “And when anybody shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
Oprah says that we have to learn from our past experiences to see how others will behave in future situations. For example, if they have been dishonest to us, they will most likely be again.
8. “When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.”
This is a quote from Oprah about not letting fear of embarrassment stop you from achieving your goals and dreams in life. If people laugh at you today, then it won’t matter what they think in the future when you are successful.
9. “Everybody has a calling, and your life’s path is to discover your mission.”
Oprah believes that each person must find their true purpose in life and work hard to achieve it. Otherwise, if we waste our lives away, then all of our efforts will be in vain. This is a powerful message from her not to delay our life’s work and purpose!
10. “I have said for years that I want my tombstone to read: She Lived simply.”
Despite all of the achievements throughout Oprah’s life, she doesn’t feel they define who she is as a person. She has many talents and has achieved success in many areas, but she is still the same person as young.
