Ariana Huffington has been a successful businesswoman for years and is now considered one of the world’s most influential people. I’ll share some lessons that have helped her get to where she is today in this blog post!
She is a Greek-American author and syndicated columnist recently named #4 on the Forbes list of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.” She is also the co-founder and current editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post. In 2010, she won a Pulitzer Prize for her commentary on US politics and economics.
So, the following are life-changing lessons from Ariana Huffington to make you successful in your own life.
1. “Don’t be afraid of burning out. Be Afraid Of Fading Away.”
A big part of achieving success and making a name for yourself is putting in the work that it takes to get there. It requires you to go above and beyond what others are willing to do, which can mean working more than eight hours a day, six days a week.
However, you absolutely must take care of yourself and your health to do this. People can get so wrapped up in their work that they lose themselves. They may become so exhausted that they neglect their family life or even their health, which happens all too frequently these days.
So remember to make time for yourself and your loved ones, but don’t put their needs above your own. Only you know when your energy levels are dropping too low to continue helping others– so if there’s ever any doubt about it, take a break.
2. “The World Does Not Revolve Around You.”
It can be very difficult for some people to realise that they are not the centre of the universe. So many people walk around feeling like their problems and feelings are more important than everyone else’s.
However, when you begin thinking this way, it’s only natural for you to start behaving this way as well. You may become so self-centred and egotistical that you begin to achieve success without respecting others.
Fortunately, this is an issue that can be easily remedied. The first thing you need to do is accept that your problems are not more important than anyone else’s– and neither are your feelings. If you listen to what other people have to say, you’ll notice that they often have the wisdom to offer you, which can make your life that much easier.
3. “Don’t Be Afraid To Take A Risk.”
It’s easy for people to become so comfortable in their lives that they never take any risks– and consequently, fail to achieve the success they’re capable of reaching. They continue living unfulfilling lives in fear of the unknown, but taking risks is the only way to achieve success. You must be willing to step out of your comfort zone if you ever want to do anything big with your life.
So remember, when you’re feeling nervous about taking a risk, remind yourself that there are no guarantees in life. If you’re still scared to take that leap, then you might want to ask yourself if your life is fulfilling enough for you to remain where you are. This can be a great motivator in helping you make the right decision about taking specific risks.
4. “Prioritise Your Life.”
People can become so wrapped up in their work that they never make time for anything else. They may feel like it’s necessary to put all their energy into doing a good job at the office, even if it means neglecting themselves and their family life.
However, this is a big mistake. To be happy and successful, you need to prioritise your life and take care of yourself and your loved ones. If you don’t, you will be miserable and unfulfilled in the long run– and, likely, you won’t become successful, either.
So remember: The more fulfilled your life is, the more productive and creative you’ll be at work. And this will help you achieve success more easily, too.
5. “Don’t Let Your Successes Go To Your Head.”
Just as you need to keep things in perspective when it comes to failures, you also need to keep your successes in perspective as well. Remember that everyone will always have problems– even if they are very successful right now, there is no guarantee that they will always be successful.
So if you want to stay humble, don’t let your successes go to your head. Instead, try to use them as motivation for continuing your success– and remember that there is no guarantee about the future, either. As long as you keep this in mind, you’ll be able to avoid falling victim to your ego and arrogance.
So remember: Things won’t always be going your way– and even if they are, you can’t count on the success lasting forever. So keep your successes in perspective to stay humble and avoid becoming too egotistical about them.
6. “Don’t Let Your Failures Go To Your Heart.”
Just as you should keep your successes in perspective, you should also try to keep your failures in perspective. Remember that everyone will make mistakes and fail occasionally, and even super successful people can fail sometimes.
So if you want to stay confident, don’t let your failures go to your heart. Instead, use them as motivation for improving your performance and fixing your mistakes. And remember, there is no guarantee about future success, so don’t let yourself get too down on yourself if you fail once in a while.
So remember: Just because you made a mistake or failed at something doesn’t mean that everything’s over. If anything, it usually means that you’re about to learn an important lesson that will make you better in the long run– so don’t let it discourage or depress you.
7. “Don’t Let Anyone Take Advantage Of You.”
It’s very easy for successful people to become targets for manipulative and greedy individuals who only want to take them down a notch. People might try to get you to work for free, or they might try to convince you that your success isn’t important and shouldn’t be used.
However, this is a big mistake. If anyone ever tries to take advantage of your success in any way, then you must put an end to it right away– otherwise, they might keep trying to take you down.
So remember: There is no downside to severing ties with people who try to use or belittle your success– and as such, there’s never a reason not to do it (so long as they aren’t hurting anybody else). So if anyone tries this, just don’t let them get away with it.
So remember: If anyone ever uses or belittles your success in any way, you should sever your ties with them immediately– because there’s no reason to have a relationship with people who try to tear you down. People like that will only do more damage if they continue using you.
8. “Don’t Let Your Success Humble You.”
It’s very easy for successful people to fail to realise what a big impact their success is having on the world. They might get so caught up in how amazing it feels that they end up forgetting that a lot of other people will be affected by it as well– and that some of those people don’t have such an optimistic view of their success.
So if you don’t want to start a fight, you must avoid letting your success humble you too much. Once again, the only people who would be trying to tear down your success are going to be those who are looking for a fight– and as such, there is no reason for it.
So remember: You don’t need to feel guilty about anything just because you’re successful– and if anyone does try to guilt you into feeling that way, they’re probably just trying to start a fight with you. So if this happens, ignore them and move on with your life.
9. “Don’t Let Your Success Affect Your Relationships.”
Of course, it’s very natural for successful people to want to spend their time with other successful people– and this is especially true if the two of you have a lot in common. However, don’t let your success affect your relationships too much– otherwise, it can get out of hand quickly.
For instance, if you start spending so much time with your successful friends that you neglect the people who are closest to you, it’s very easy for them to feel abandoned– and as such, they might start getting annoyed at all the time that they’re losing out on with you. So be careful not to let this happen.
So remember: You don’t necessarily have to spend most of your time with successful people just because you’re successful– but it’s okay too if that’s what makes you happy. So be careful not to let your relationships suffer in the process.
